About building a study

Who can I talk to about building my study with Eureka?

Email our team at coordinator@eurekaplatform.org with a short introduction and a description of your research study.

What features does Eureka support?

Our robust and flexible features are always evolving to better support research studies. Check out our current feature list on the Platform page for an overview, or contact us at coordinator@eurekaplatform.org for more information.

Which devices and apps can be connected to Eureka?

We connect to multiple devices and apps, including: Fitbit, Omron, Withings, myfitnesspal, Azumio, and iHealth. The list is continually growing. Are you interested in a data source that we don’t yet integrate? Contact us at coordinator@eurekaplatform.org to talk about what might be possible.

Does my study need IRB approval?

Yes, you will need to obtain and maintain your own separate IRB approval for your study. The UCSF Eureka Research Platform is covered by an IRB approval that allows us to collect data on behalf of another investigator team. Our team can guide you through the IRB process as well as provide template materials for your IRB application.

How do I access data from my study?

Study data and reports are updated nightly and available for you to download on demand by logging into your study’s administrative portal. Other data access options are available on an as-needed basis, which you can discuss with your Eureka Protocol Project Manager when designing your study.

How securely do you store research data?

Data is what powers ground-breaking research that makes the world healthier. Eureka empowers everyone to securely contribute data to health causes they are passionate about. Maintaining the safety of the data you contribute is at the core of our mission and this motivates all of our technical decisions. Eureka uses a HIPAA compliant, cloud-based system to store all research data.
