COVID-19 Citizen Science

Our Citizen Scientists share their thoughts on COVID-19 (Part 1)

Welcome to the first in a multi-part series where we share the results from a recent survey asking Citizen Scientists their thoughts on COVID-19 in 2023! In this blog post, we will get a first look at what the respondents had to say.

From February 2-8, 2023, Citizen Scientists participating in the COVID-19 Citizen Science (CCS) study were asked their thoughts on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic. We received a total of 9,862 responses.

Here’s what respondents had to say about the COVID-19 pandemic. The statements that tend to represent a more relaxed attitude towards COVID-19 are in blue, while the ones that tend to represent a heightened sense of vigilance are in yellow. This graph appears to show that Citizen Scientists who responded to the survey have a heightened sense of vigilance in their lives in regards to COVID-19.

More than half of our respondents agreed that COVID-19 is an ongoing health threat (55.5%) and that we should continue to take precautions to prevent the spread (51.2%), but over a third (35.7%) of all respondents felt that we can now be more relaxed towards COVID in our day to day lives.

We’ll be back in our next blog with more results from the survey. Stay tuned!
